“It has become a bit of a phenomenon this West End Producer lark,” it was overheard in the offices of Fourthwall HQ this morning.
West End Producer shot to fame last year with his savvy advice and witty industry observations on the popular social network, keeping his identity closely hidden. He launched a successful talent competition, Search for a Twitter Star, and off the back of its success, Search for a Twitter Composer.
It was largely seen in the industry as a publicity stunt, but like the artist Banksy, he’s managed to create a bit of a buzz in the industry and become a bit of a mover and shaker. He regularly turns up at theatrical first nights in his customary wig and latex mask. A bit creepy, some might say, but it all adds to the fun and mystery.
His cult following on twitter has exceeded 35,000 and now he’s set to turn his popularity into a book which has been tipped as a best seller.
Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Acting (But Were Afraid To Ask, Dear) will be published by Nick Hern Books in November and promises to delight his fans with all the wit and mischievous indiscretion that characterise his regular online bulletins. It is also packed with gossip and insider knowledge of the theatre business with enough advice on acting to kickstart a career.
Nick Hern books are keen to point out that even they are puzzled by his identity. During editorial meetings he wore the same latex mask whilst discussing the book with the publisher.
He has fascinated an entire cut throat industry and convinced them to take him seriously. The Fourthwall team are looking forward to getting their sticky mitts on that book! Dear.
