British actor Rupert Friend is to make his London stage debut in the UK premiere of Douglas Carter Beane's Tony Award-winning Broadway comedy The Little Dog Laughed.
This new production, as reported in the Daily Mail, will be directed by Jamie Lloyd and will co-star Tamsin Greig.
The play, which will open at the Garrick Theatre early next year, is set in New York and focuses on a Hollywood actor who, out of loneliness and boredom at his failing career, calls an escort chat line. An escort arrives at the actor's hotel room and they form an unlikely friendship.
Rupert Friend is to play Hollywood actor Mitchell, with Tamsin Greig set to play his agent.
The Little Dog Laughed opened Off-Broadway in January 2006 before transferring to Broadway later that year and going on to win a Tony Award for Best Play.
