Patrick Stewart and Nicholas Hynter, two of the most successful players in their respective fields, have been given the title of ‘Sir'.
Stewart received an OBE in 2001 and is best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek. He has also enjoyed a successful stage career, most recently alongside Sir Ian Mckellen in the West End revival of Waiting for Godot.
Hynter has been Artistic Director at the National Theatre for seven years, taking over from Sir Trevor Nunn in 2003. He has directed several hits at the venue, including The History Boys, repeating its success by directing the film version.
