Miranda Sings has become an internet sensation after posting videos of herself singing her favourite songs comically off-key and complete with stiff dance moves. Her notable catchphrase is “Haters back off!”
Next month she will perform at the Leicester Square Theatre (9th to 14th September) and this time she will be joined by one lucky Miranda-wannabe. She has teamed up with WhatsOnStage to pay tribute to the West End and challenge UK fans to “out-Miranda Miranda” in show tunes-style for a chance to make their own West End debut.
If you think you have what it takes to match Miranda’s outrageous act, then you have until 5th September to send a video clip mimicking her to mirandacomp@whatsonstage.com
Miranda will judge all clips and the winner will get to join her on stage at the 7.30pm performance on Friday 13th September for a special duet. They will also receive a pair of free tickets to the show.
Miranda said: “Obviously, no one can be as good as me cuz I am famous and really talented, but I’m happy to give vocal training to the WhatsOnStage winner while I’m in London. They can learn a lot from me cuz I’m also an amazing teacher.”
Comedian and singer Colleen Ballinger is the girl behind the hilarious character. She launched Miranda Sings in 2009 and has received over 50 million views on YouTube. She has gone on to perform live on stage in theatres in New York, London, Los Angeles and other cities around the world.
Competition runs on www.whatsonstage.com from Thursday 22 August-Thursday 5 September 2013. By submitting videos and photos, entrants agree that they may be published online by WhatsOnStage and Miranda Sings. Neither travel to London nor accommodation is provided as part of competition prizes.
