Taking a morning out from performing at The Lowry, the cast of High School Musical went along to Lancasterian School in West Didsbury to watch the school's own cheerleading team show them how it's done! Favourite characters from the original Disney movie met the children after watching their exuberant performance.
The professional actors and dancers, who play cheerleaders in the show, were amazed by the skill and enthusiasm of the young troupe. The cast, including Hannah Leone who plays brainbox Taylor in the musical, were delighted to watch a performance of ‘Relight my fire’ that the youngsters had choreographed themselves.
Afterwards the school’s own news reporters asked the cast questions about what it’s like performing in such a successful show and how they began their careers in the business. One of the schoolboys even volunteered to take over the role of Troy and led the cast in a cheer of “Go Wildcats!”
This has been really rewarding… and reminds me why I love my job!
Hannah Leone said of the visit to the school “It has been fantastic to meet the young fans of High School Musical and see how the cheerleaders have been inspired. This has been a really rewarding experience for me and reminds me why I love my job!”
