The leading girl of the moment, Sheridan Smith, has admitted her and cast members of Legally Blonde were anxious about what the critics would make of the show, which is currently enoying a successful run at the Savoy Theatre in the West End.
The 28 year old actress and star of BBC's Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, was attending the Olivier Awards at the Grosvenor Hotel on Sunday evening.
We thought it was going to be slated.
Speaking to London's Evening Standard, Smith confessed: “We thought it was going to be slated. No one realised it would be this successful, especially as it wasn't so well received on Broadway.”
Asked about the future, the charming actress was being somewhat level-headed: “This is so much better than TV, but God knows what'll happen when my contract ends in the autumn.
“I may be unemployed again. Such is the life of an actress.”
With Smith's popularity and skill as a performer, we're guessing she won’t be out of work for long.
