A breach of security at the National Theatre has prompted the venue to contact customers who have had their details accessed by a hacker.
The names, email and password details of around 17,000 individuals may have been accessed, however card details and financial information are thought not to have been viewed.
In a message to customers that were affected by the unauthorised access of information said: “Your payment information is safely encrypted, so no financial or booking details have been viewed.
“The affected system has been secured, however we would ask you to change your password on the NT site and it would be prudent to do so on other sites where you use the same password.”
Only a small percentage of the 900,000 customer details were accessed, and it is thought that the Southbank venue's new computer system has been updated to prevent this from happening again.
