The panel of judges on Over the Rainbow includes West End actress Sheila Hancock, Eastenders' John Partridge and classical singer and presenter Charlotte Church.
The mixed panel are largely qualified having all carved successful careers. Hancock is currently starring in the West End hit Sister Act, while Partridge was a regular in West End musicals before joining soap land. Church rose to fame as a classical child singer and has since presented her own chat show.
Lloyd Webber said of the new line up: “Each member of the panel brings something new and exciting which will take Over The Rainbow even further than the previous shows. We have a fantastic wealth of talent within our judges, and I know they're going to be bringing some incredibly valuable expertise and opinions in our search for Dorothy.”
Jay Hunt, controller of BBC One, added: “It is hard to find a team of judges who can match Andrew Lloyd Webber in terms of enthusiasm, knowledge and a love of musical theatre but I think we have got them here – they are going to be a huge asset to the show.”
The show, which will search for an actress to play Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, will air in spring on BBC 1.
