The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has confirmed it had its best year yet, breaking box office sales for 2009.
The number of tickets sold for the 2009 Festival hit 1,859,235, up from 21% on last year. It was also a full 9% up on the record-breaking 2007 Festival.
It was a successful year for all of the major venues. Fringe chief executive Kath Mainland said it was “one of the best festivals” she had seen.
The Drama Student Magazine will have a special review of the Edinburgh Festival in the autumn issue of the publication, out at the end of September.
