The National Student Drama Festival is back in Edinburgh for the third year running with the NSDF and Methuen Drama Emerging Artists' Competition.
Supported by The Pleasance Theatre and Spotlight, the NSDF selectors will searching for the very best of new student work from the Fringe. The most outstanding piece of work will be chosen to transfer to The Pleasance in Islington in September. Past winners include, Tony! The Blair Musical and Eight (cast right), winner of a Fringe First and the Carol Tambor Award.
Ella Hickson, writer of Eight, said: “The NSDF09 Edinburgh Emerging Artists’ Award enabled myself and my cast to travel down to London and do our first professional run at Islington’s Pleasance Theatre. The opportunity was invaluable to the cast in what it offered them in experience and exposure and for myself, as a writer, I made contacts and worked with creative masterminds that continue to help my writing career.”
