The Spotlight Summer Ball, the most highly anticipated graduation ball for the UK's next generation of West End stars, is taking place this Sunday in a glamorous central London nightspot with tickets already sold out.
The Ball, now in its fifth year, is set to be the hottest ticket in London this bank holiday, recognising the determination and ability of Britain's best performing talent with 1,000 students expected to attend. In recent years, it has become the social event of the year for students from prestigious CDS and CDET schools, such as RADA, Mountview, Central and Bristol Old Vic.
Leanne attended the event as a student and is now an inspiration to all of the graduates
Taking place at Café de Paris, the Moulin Rouge inspired event will feature exclusive performances from some of the UK's brightest West End stars including Leanne Jones. Leanne is a former Mountview graduate and winner of the 2008 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Tracy Turnblad in the smash hit Hairspray. It was just two years ago that Leanne attended the event as a student and is now an inspiration to all of the graduates.
Other performances on the night will come from Jodie Prenger, leading lady in West End hit Oliver!; Nancy Sullivan, currently starring in Les Miserables and Anna Jane Casey, who has headlined hit musical Chicago.
This year a Moulin Rouge inspired dress code has been set, which is perfect for the creative and occasionally flamboyant party goers who are expected to attend.
We’re expecting to see some truly wonderful creations on the dance floor!
David Flynn, organiser of the Spotlight Summer Ball explained: “We’re going glam this year to celebrate our fifth anniversary and as we are at the fabulous Cafe de Paris we decided to let our inner Lady Marmalade out and celebrate with a Moulin Rouge theme. The students have really taken to the idea and we’re expecting to see some truly wonderful creations on the dance floor.”
As well as the impressive array of famous singers taking to the stage, the ball will also feature some stunning live entertainment, including an appearance by Rae the fabulous Silk Artiste who will perform above the crowd from the ceiling itself. There is also a free champagne reception, goodie bags with Clothes Show Live Tickets, a DJ set by DJ Hatesy from Central School of Speech and Drama, copies of The Drama Student Magazine and of course no Moulin Rouge night would be complete without Can Can Girls.
It is only right that CDS graduates get to have the party of all parties
Ben Seale, Managing Partner of Spotlight said: “Actors train harder than any other graduating body of students in the UK in terms of the hours of learning involved. As a result, the UK is looked upon by the world as a hotbed of fresh talent, year on year. It is only right that CDS graduates get to have the party of all parties to celebrate the conclusion of their formal studies and to seriously let their hair down surrounded by their future fellow cast members! Spotlight could not be more proud to sponsor the graduation bash for this group of extremely talented young actors.”
