Now in its second year, the Surviving Actors event will swing into the west end of London this coming Saturday for another day helping performers sustain a career.
Sponsors Fourthwall and The Drama Student magazines have confirmed that the convention will be filmed once again.
We want to ensure that enthusiasm is captured on camera, so we want to get as many people involved in the film project as possible
Presenter Phil Matthews said he would be on the lookout for attendees to take part in the film. “Surviving Actors is such a vibrant event for performers, helping them in all areas of their career,” he says. “We want to ensure that enthusiasm is captured on camera, so we want to get as many people involved in the film project as possible.”
Matthews will not only be looking to speak to actors, he will also be running a competition giving away prizes that include the book “Secrets from the Casting Couch” written by Casting Director Nancy Bishop.
“We’ll be having lots of fun with the competition,” says Matthews. “Nancy Bishops’ book gives an invaluable insight into the casting process and any actor, whatever stage of their journey, would get so much from it. So make sure you find me on the day and you might just walk away with one!”
Matthews is also looking for those with special talents to showcase themselves. “The convention was successful last year because it takes being an actor very seriously, and is genuinely there to assist performers in their careers. But it’s also a really fun day out and we’re encouraging actors to come and enjoy themselves. Did I mention it’s also free to attend?”
